Westminster City Council is a high profile London authority, embarking on an exciting period of change. The council has an outstanding reputation and is recognised for being at the forefront of developments within local government, including the recent introduction of a shared service centre. We have been appointed to recruit three individuals with outstanding leadership skills and knowledge of accounting to lead the financial reporting teams in this pioneering scheme.
These positions call for individuals with a proactive and versatile approach who demonstrate exceptional management skills. You will lead the team that is tasked with producing financial reports to facilitate the needs of the service and other financial transactional activities. Your key responsibility will be to ensure that your team produces reports to tight deadlines and the Shared Service Centre undertakes all processes to a high quality maintaining attention to detail. You must ensure that information produced is in accordance with the council’s regulatory frameworks and current standard accounting practice. Pivotal to success will be building strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the council, maintaining a clear customer focus with business partners and business managers.
To succeed, you will be a professionally qualified accountant with experience of managing teams and engaging staff. You will be able to show evidence of implementing changes and improving processes. Your advanced IT skills will ensure that you are comfortable with complex financial systems and you will have up to date understanding of accounting principles and procedures. You will be an exceptional communicator, able to engage clearly and confidently at all levels. Working in a fast paced environment, you will be capable of motivating staff and coping well under pressure.
