Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS Foundation Trust comprises Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Rosie Hospital in Cambridge.   The Trust provides accessible high-quality healthcare for the local people of Cambridge, together with specialist services, dealing with rare or complex conditions, for a regional, national and international population. The Trust is recognised as a centre of excellence and innovation with many of the hospital specialists being leaders in their field.  With an income of c. £806m, 1,000 hospital beds, it has a staff of around 8,300 that supports an average 574,998 outpatient visits, 5,749 births, and 102,709 A&E attendances a year.

The Divisional Head of Finance (DHF) will work alongside the Divisional Director in providing overall financial leadership and direction to one of the Trust’s large clinical divisions with a combined expenditure budget of circa £130m and be a Business Partner in the truest sense. 

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Influence strategic decision making within the Trust through the provision of highly complex business and financial advice and support to the Executive Directors, Senior Operational Managers, Clinicians and Budget Managers across the Divisions.
  • The DHF will be responsible for the management of a team of Finance Managers and Finance Analysts and provide professional oversight to Management Accountants to deliver both the Divisional and the Trusts’ corporate finance objectives. 
  • Responsibility for the regular reporting of financial and non-financial performance management information, supporting the development of the Trusts Annual Plan and Divisional Business Plans. 
  • The DHF will lead the annual financial planning and budget setting process for their divisions, advising on short, medium and long term strategic, financial and business planning issues. In particular to advise and challenge the division on their capacity and demand plans.

We are looking for CCAB qualified, ambitious individual with passion, intellectual curiosity and credibility.  You will need to demonstrate resilience and gravitas.  You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills complemented by relevant experience of working in a business partnering role within the NHS, regulator or professional firm.  In addition, you should have a proven track record of leading and effectively managing multiple projects, an ability to deliver tight deadlines and a flexible approach to work both strategically and operationally.
