Across the globe, an estimated eight million children live in orphanages and other institutions. At least 80% are not orphans and have at least one living parent. Separated from families, they are deprived of the close, loving adult engagement a family provides; their physical, intellectual and emotional development is harmed; and they are exposed to significant risk of abuse and neglect. These are some of the world’s most disadvantaged children.

At Lumos, an international NGO founded by J.K. Rowling and the UK 2015 Charity of the Year, we believe this is a solvable problem. We have developed a model of ‘deinstitutionalisation’ to support countries to reform child care and protection systems based on institutions and replace them with health, education and social care services which keep families together in the community.

As Lumos expands globally, we need a range of skilled professionals to work in our diverse and international team to champion the rights of all children to grow up within a loving family. We are now looking for a motivated individual to play a key role in our Finance team.

We are looking for a highly motivated and forward-thinking finance professional with robust technical skills to provide high quality support to the Finance team to ensure future growth, stability and success.  This is a high profile role which will work closely with the Finance Director to provide enhanced finance to Senior Management and the Board.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with other teams on improving the impact, and understanding of financial reporting/analysis on business performance; providing 'real time' support and analysis to enhance decision-making;
  • Supporting the development of strategy, business planning and strategic projects; developing projections and business models; budget setting and forecasting;
  • Working with senior managers and programme leads to prepare business cases and bids for new business and programme re-design;

The successful candidate will be fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) from a Charity, Commercial or wider Public Sector background. You will be analytically-minded with excellent organisational and project management skills. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, flexible in approach but firm when necessary, who can work on their own initiative and thrives when thinking and acting proactively. You be able to communicate complex financial information to stakeholders and possess the ability to influence and build rapport with a range of finance and non-finance persons across the organisation. You are likely to have experience within a growing international organisation and working knowledge of Sun Systems. Enthusiasm for the sector is a must.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a high calibre finance profession looking to make an impact in the sector and will provide an excellent platform in your career.
