City of Westminster

Multi-vacancy campaign

Home to the UK’s monarchy, world-famous landmarks and the Government, Westminster is one of the most dynamic and exciting places in which to live and work. The council’s vision is for Westminster to be a “City for All”, built on the fundamentals of being a global city, celebrating strong neighbourhoods and thriving communities. With one million commuters and visitors passing through their streets each day – plus the fact that the area provides £55 billion of the UK’s economic output – the impact made by the officers of Westminster City Council are on a scale that is second to none. It makes for a working atmosphere that is fast-paced, vibrant and exhilarating.

Brief/Problem:

With a standing “best in class” objective, the Council’s record breaking finance team has rewritten the history books and pushed the boundaries of public finance in pursuit of this ambition. They were looking for talented individuals, who were passionate about a making a real difference, to continue the good work they have been doing at the forefront of public finance.

Approach/research:

We were looking for bright, progressive candidates oozing potential. We started by contacting CIPFA gradates from last few years and targeting candidates from the CIPFA Graduate Scheme from various councils. Highlighting the potential for career development opportunities and using examples of the progression of existing Westminster employees, the response was positive!

Results/achievement:

We are proud that our shortlist was so strong that the council created additional positions for our candidates. We placed 12 candidates ultimately, and work alongside other Allen Lane success stories including those in critical IT, Digital and Procurement positions.
