Covid-19: a message from Allen Lane

March 2020

Maurice Goldstone

We hope this message finds you as well as it can do given the unprecedented times in which we find ourselves.

We are a day and a half into encouraging home working for all at Allen Lane as a precaution and whilst it is early days and plenty of walls remain hitherto unclimbed, we appreciate there is a long way to go and it’s vital that we’re there for our friends and families as well as our colleagues, clients and candidates during these difficult times. Working from home and even self-isolation should never mean being or feeling lonely – our staff’s well-being and mental health are just as important as helping to keep them and their families safe from the challenges of COVID-19. Whether suggesting long walks with our CEO’s dog (social distancing of course) or a coffee or beer over a video call – we’ll do as much together as we can. In some ways, our 5 core values (work ethic, respect, responsibility, pride and enjoyment) have seldom felt more pertinent.

Just as we’re here for each other, we’re here for you too as we have been for the last 16 years. If as a job seeker you want to know how to use this tricky time proactively (and there are numerous ways we promise); or as a hiring manager you want to plan ahead whilst you have some time to think; or as a contractor, in or out of scope… you want to understand what impact these restrictions will have on you and what our stance is; or you want a chat, a moan, a laugh – get in touch.

This is a tough time for many sales businesses and for us and others in our industry, it is no different. We have to use the present time wisely and effectively, and also plan ahead and think how can we come back stronger than before; how can we hit the ground running when we are all systems go; and how can we put customer service, excellence, innovation, relationships, inclusivity, equality and diversity even more at the heart of everything we do.

But most of all, we hope that you all, and your families, remain safe and healthy over the next few months and beyond. Help to reduce the spread – keep those hands clean, those social distances healthy, you’re not brave pretending you’re not poorly, #bekind and most of all, good luck.
