Corporate Social Responsibility at Allen Lane

We know how fortunate we are

Pushing ourselves to our limits to support international initiatives and local communities enriches our lives and others.

Allen Lane Trust

From bikes to hikes and swims to sails, nights sleeping on the street and nights walking through the streets; we have supported, matched and encouraged group and individual fundraising for over 10 years.

Here are some of the experiences that we have shared whilst trying to support causes close to our individual and collective hearts.

Allen Lane Trust:

Established in 2012, the Allen Lane Trust financially supports deprived, sick and needy individuals in the UK. These people, often individuals who are still young and trying to develop their lives, simply do not have the opportunities that many of us take for granted.

The Allen Lane Trust is looking to help these people enjoy a better life through fundraising, volunteering and financial support.

Transylvania Trek
Fundraising for: Terrence Higgins Trust

In autumn 2018, a team of 13 ventured to Transylvania in order to climb to heights of over 2000 metres fundraising for Terrence Higgins Trust. This is a cause close to our hearts, and we are proud of the substantial amount raised by for the Trust.  Read more about the trip here.

Sail
Fundraising for: Shooting Star Chase

With no prior experience, a group of 9 from Allen Lane set sail in September 2017, heading towards France. They raised around £4,000 for our chosen charity Shooting Star Chase, whose hospices provide support to terminally ill children and their families.

24 hour Lake District Trek
Fundraising for: Mind

Walking for 24 hours without rest is both physically and mentally challenging, and we are so proud of our team who trekked through the Lake District to raise over £4,000 for mental health charity Mind in June 2017.  Read more about the challenge here.

Windsor Half Marathon
Fundraising for: Various

Well done to our fantastic group of runners who took part in the Windsor Half Marathon in September 2017. Each runner chose a charity close to their hearts, and we are all so impressed by their dedication to their training and individual fundraising success.

“Working in recruitment certainly throws up its challenges, but I never expected one of them to be climbing to the roof of Africa. Kilimanjaro was a once in a lifetime opportunity, experience and achievement!”

Great Wall of China
Fundraising for: Shooting Star Chase

Originally constructed to defend China against nomadic tribes, the Great Wall of China stood no chance against our determined group from Allen Lane who conquered it in September 2015. Triumphing over the crumbling, twisting pathways and tackling thousands of steps, the team raised an impressive donation for Shooting Star Chase.

Kilimanjaro
Fundraising for: Shooting Star Chase

Climbing the highest freestanding mountain on earth was probably the biggest challenge our group has undertaken and one that we (Beth) are still talking about 5 years later. Battling altitude sickness, the cold and extreme physical challenges were certainly tough but the vital funds raised and the feeling of reaching the top made it all worth it!

Charity Bike Rides
Fundraising for: Various

Our team at Allen Lane love taking part in a charity bike ride, and so far we have raised over £25,000 for diverse causes cycling to Amsterdam (in 48 hours), Paris, Brighton (through the night) and from Dublin to Doolin despite incessant rain. Watch this space for our next cycling adventure!

Marathons
Fundraising for: Various

We love a group charity event, but we also try to encourage and enable our employees to take up any individual challenges that might appeal to them personally. We do not underestimate the amount of training and dedication that it takes to run a marathon, and we are incredibly proud that members of our team have taken part in marathons in London, Paris, Berlin and Chicago.

Sporting Marathons
Fundraising for: Various

Not only have the team taken part in running marathons, but also endurance marathons of other kinds. We even had our first employee complete an “Iron-man triathlon” in 2018. We have also had marathon golf days (4 rounds in a day), 9 hour long tennis competitions and are always looking for new ways to challenge ourselves and raise some much needed funds in the process.
