London Borough of Redbridge is on the path of organisational change and transformation. With changing demands and limited resources, the organisation is continually adapting to meet the needs of residents. Building and learning from successful work streams they have launched the enablement programme which focuses on empowering, developing and ultimately enabling the entire organisations workforce.

Brief/Problem:

These are exciting times for the council and a finance function that will support a brilliant team to meet the challenges of tomorrow was required. The finance service has been re-designed so that it is more commercially focused and streamlined. The Council was moving away from traditional accounting and towards professional services, quality assurance, matrix working and accelerating pace. It was certainly a time of great opportunity and the required roles promised a brand new challenge with many rewards, including flexible, smarter ways of working through the use of technology.

Approach/research:

This was a challenging time for Redbridge, and we were tasked with helping them build their finance team from scratch. Our approach was to target potential candidates with both experience of driving through change and innovation, and also a track record of success within a challenging and changing environment.

Results/achievement:

All appointed candidates were sourced from local authority backgrounds, some with experience at a similar level and others stepping into more senior positions.
