Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is a unique and vibrant place to work, nestled in the heart of London. Although one of the smallest London boroughs, they are one of the most densely populated in the country. The Council, its policies and leadership put residents at the heart of everything they do.


RBKC wanted to recruit a range of finance roles to reinforce and help modernise the finance department following a move from a devolved to a centralised finance function, including implementing a new finance system and many finance functions being brought back in house. They wanted to continue embedding and strengthening their financial management function to support the Council in delivering its residents’ priorities and its service transformation alongside addressing the wider financial challenges facing local government.

The roles ranged from Heads of Finance to more transactional roles and specialist roles including a Pensions Fund Manager.


We targeted a range of candidates across Local Authorities and from other public sector organisations with transferable skills and knowledge. We focused on attracting people who would be interested in helping develop a modern finance team that business partners with the council and constantly looks to add value. As there was such a range of roles at different levels, we had to make sure that we completely covered the market and that we were able to showcase the opportunities and what RBKC were trying to achieve innovatively.


We successfully recruited people across a range of finance teams supporting Corporate, Housing, Adults Social Care, Environment, Transformation and Systems.
