The finance department is currently going through a restructure to help develop and improve an already effective and passionate finance team. The restructure is built around development, growth and career progression to ensure we create a high performing finance team that can provide even more support to the council and benefit our residents. The next step of the restructure is to really embed the model that we’ve implemented, ensuring we are challenging the organisation to maximise the delivery of services and have an even bigger impact for our residents.
The Finance Managers manage a team supporting a specific service to inform a strategic vision for that service that enables the council to meet its future challenges, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities will include;
- Working closely with all stakeholders to ensure best use of limited financial resources, providing the strategic financial advice, insight, intelligence and support needed to the service
- Preparing and presenting complex, high quality reports to members and other senior stakeholders that support decision making
- Assisting in the development, implementation and review of change management programmes to deliver continuous improvement
- Supporting the longer-term council-wide financial position and developing financial strategies with stakeholders
To be suitable for the role you need to be a fully qualified accountant with proven experience of managing staff in a complex organisations. Experience of providing financial advice and support to a range of stakeholder and the ability to influence is also essential.

Islington offers a very flexible hybrid working environment. Majority home working is available with the expectation you are in the office a minimum of 2 days per month or when there is a business need.
