NHS Contracting and Income Consultant

Leading the Contracting and Income team and working closely with Deputy CFO and senior finance team, you will manage the Trust’s clinical income, activity pricing and charging across all commissioned activities, liaising with the Integrated Care Board, NHS England and Specialised Commissioning. The post is responsibility for creating Trust wide processes for the development, application of monitoring and reporting systems for income, and accountable for the negotiation and management of a well-defined portfolio of contracts. This is an important role in the finance leadership team and, with the recent changes to the NHS system, offers an opportunity to develop the contracting area into a more strategic function.
You should be a qualified accountant, or equivalent, with expert experience of NHS Trust contracting and income. This includes being able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the standard acute contract, the Payment by Results (PbR) framework and more recently ERF. Owing to the importance of contractual relationships, planning and the range of contacts involved, you will need strong communication skills and to be able to quickly build effective working relationships at different levels.
