Senior Financial Accountant

A Local Authority is urgently looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to add extra capacity to the closure of accounts process.  You will report to the Chief Accountant.

In addition, the Senior Financial Accountant will lead aspects of the Council’s annual closure of accounts programme and related activity, coordinating input by a team of finance professionals to ensure that relevant standards and regulations are fully complied with. The Senior Financial Accountant is expected to operate at a strategic level building strong relationships with internal and external partners and being a key and active member of senior manager forums.

Specialise in, and lead on, aspects of the Council’s statutory financial accounting and reporting requirements (including the Statement of Accounts), its Treasury Management function or other regulatory requirements, to ensure that the required standards and statutory deadlines are met.

You will be CCAB qualified and have extensive experience of Local Authority Closure of Accounts and have and have good technical knowledge.

There is the option of condensed hours or a 4 day week.
