Our support services play a key role in helping the whole Council work to the best of its ability and ensure the Council can deliver on its priorities. Within that the Financial Management function has undergone some major changes, including; moving to a centralised finance function and implementing a new finance system. The priorities over the next two years are addressing the financial challenges facing the Council and embedding a culture of business partnering and adding value.
The Head of Finance Strategic Business Partnering will also play a key role in working in partnership with other Heads of Finance in developing a strategic business partnering finance function that works across the organisation to embed good financial management and consistent ways of working to support services.
- Working in partnership with all Heads of Finance to provide high-quality strategic business partnering service to major services within the council, including supporting Lead Members, Strategic & Operational Directors and senior managers
- Developing strong business partnering teams that are working towards a shared vision and are adding value across the organisation
- Advising on all elements of strategic finance and planning on behalf of the finance department for the council’s business planning process, and the development and delivery of departmental projects including capital programmes
To be suitable for the role you need to be a fully qualified accountant with proven experience of driving through change, embedding a business partnering culture and supporting the improvement of team performances across an organisation. The ability to advise and challenge senior management is essential, whilst exposure within a Local Government is highly desirable.
This role is for a one year fixed term contract.
