A Local Authority in the Home Counties are currently looking to recruit an Interim Pensions Accountant

Role:

  • Deliver financial advice and financial policy development for the Pension Fund
  • Provision of technical accountancy advice for the Pension Fund
  • Deliver the work programme set by the Head of Pensions
  • Manage and motivate a team of finance staff in the delivery of high class financial support

Main Duties:

  • Provision of a high quality financial management service to Pension Fund in particular:
    • budget preparation
    • financial advice
    • budget monitoring
    • closure of accounts
    • system administration and development
  • Preparation, presentation of reports and financial information and support to Assistant Chief Executive & Chief Finance Officer and the Chairman of the Pension
  • Provision of technical accounting advice to the Pension Fund in particular developing appropriate accounting
  • Lead on the closure of accounts, for the Pension Fund, incorporating the requirements of the Head of Pensions – at all times complying with agreed timetables.
  • Ensure all Grants, Statutory Returns and other Returns are made to the appropriate standard and within agreed
  • Ensure the Pension Administration System is adequately supported and developed to provide the required level of service for
  • Lead the co-ordination and provision of high quality financial guidance and standard setting to the Council, in particular:
    • Financial Regulations
    • Financial Codes of Practice
    • Financial Training
    • Liaising with internal and external auditors

You will be CCAB qualified and have a good understanding  Pension Fund Accounting ideally from a Local Authority background
