Camden is looking for an experienced Senior Category Manager to transfer their strong procurement and commercial expertise to our organisation and to also ensure the delivery of a high quality approach to procurement.
As a Senior Category Manager you will lead the delivery of procurement programmes to improve outcomes for residents and support the achievement of the Council’s savings target. You will also have leadership responsibility across Camden for a specific strategic procurement approach (e.g. the implementation of new procurement legislation, or delivering social value through procurement).
As part of the procurement management team, you will help to lead and shape the procurement section and ensuring an approach from the procurement team which reaches out into the organisation to deliver a flexible and robust service. Driving the achievement of Camden’s financial strategy and procurement’s delivery of the Camden 2025 Plan ambitions will be key aspects of the role.
The successful candidate will ideally hold MCIPS certification or equivalent relevant number of years’ experience working within a professional / commercial procurement environment. You will have demonstrable technical knowledge and experience of managing procurement projects within the Communities directorate to include development and regeneration, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the procurement Regulations.
You will be able to demonstrate experience of managing the procurement and negotiation of complex and business critical contracts and services in line with public sector legislation and Council Contract Standing Orders.
You will have substantial experience of developing and delivering organisational-wide procurement strategies and/or policies within development, construction and regeneration. You will have a proven track record in leading, managing and developing staff whilst working effectively with a range of professionals in service areas, demonstrating excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
