Allen Lane is recruiting Finance Manager for one of London’s leading Universities. This is a rare opportunity to join a high performing finance department within the Higher Education sector.

Serving over 40,000 students across 11 academic faculties, the internationally renowned University is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to fulfil a key role within the Institute’s professional services team with responsibilities for the financial affairs both at strategic and operational levels.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • The day-to-day management and administration of the Finance and Administration teams (currently a team of 7)
  • Leading on annual planning and budgeting activities, including preparing non-staff budgets and bi-annual forecasting returns
  • Overseeing month-end processes
  • Ensuring financial processes align with institutional policies and processes, delivering an efficient and effective structure
  • Using MI tools (Tableau, Worktribe) to monitor and analyse financial information to support effective financial management
  • Overseeing, preparing and contributing to detailed financial business cases
  • Keeping relevant stakeholders informed of changes of personnel, policy, system updates and procedures throughout the Institute
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintaining ongoing awareness of the changing external funding environment for higher education
  • Reporting of actual and forecast expenditure regarding grants and funds, attending regular review meetings when required
  • Effective business partnering across the University

The ideal applicant will be:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Fully qualified (CCAB) accountant
  • Experience working in a finance role within a large/complex organisation
  • Able to demonstrate significant experience in Budget Management (planning and forecasting), account reconciliation, data analysis and management accounting
  • Record of successful line management and staff development
