Assistant Finance Manager

My client is one the largest charities in the UK. As a grant giving organisation, they have supported numerous charitable causes, environmental initiatives and social investment. They are currently looking for a driven and highly capable accountant to join the team during the year end period and until they successfully recruit the role on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant who wishes to gain more experience in Business Partnering.

Responsibilities:

• To provide a finance business partner support service to budgetholders, working closely with the Finance Manager, ensuring relevant and timely management information is maintained and developed to meet requirements.
• To effect the year end accounting requirements, supporting the team in complying with internal guidelines and liaising with external auditors.
• To lead on reporting requirements for the Social Investment Fund, working closely with the team that manage the Fund to maintain understanding throughout the year, so leading to a smooth financial year-end.
• To provide a finance business partner service for other agreed charitable activities across the group, covering both grant-making activities and related support services.
• To review draft committee reports prepared by senior staff, providing comments that take into account value for money considerations, financial standing orders and agreeing financial implications and presentation of financial data.
• To support the preparation of the Annual Report and Financial Statements, in accordance with relevant legislation and charitable accounting reporting practice, with all needs addressed on a timely basis.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant or finalist who has demonstrable experience in completing complex reconciliations, budget monitoring, advanced excel and the communication skills to effectively business partner non finance individuals.
