UCLan is a global institution, with staff representing over 200 countries across the world as they lead the way in modern learning.

The University have recently undergone a review of its Procurement capabilities and operating model, and has subsequently put forward an exciting 3 year transformation programme.

As part of this transformation, we are recruiting Sourcing Managers (Construction & Facilities Management / IT / Professional Services & Academia) to support and deliver Category Plans which underpin the sourcing strategies of the University. Each Sourcing Manager will primarily focus on one category area and will deliver value by establishing strong relationships and proactively engaging with relevant stakeholders.

Reporting into the Procurement Director and playing a key role in the ambitious procurement function change programme, your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning your category vision by developing and delivering Category Plans
  • Highlighting risks and issues and recording progress through periodic reporting.
  • Identifying and promoting value added services and best practice across the University, delivering budget efficiencies and maximising use of University’s funds
  • Procure and negotiate contractual agreements with an interest in recommending and promoting innovation.

To be successful, you will ideally be MCIPs qualified with a proven track record in managing change and in delivering multiple high value/risk procurement projects using Project Management techniques. This experience could have been gained within any sector. Results-orientated and resilient, with high standards and a commitment to excellence; you must have excellent communication and influencing skills to enable you to build sustainable and productive relationships with stakeholders; and a can-do attitude to ensure you proactively support the ambitious aims of the new procurement function.
