The London Ambulance Service NHS Trust (LAS) is a unique and complex emergency service network serving a diverse population and responding to 1.8 million emergency calls per year. In addition they are the current provider for NHS 111 / Integrated Urgent Care in both South East London and North East London. Demands on urgent and emergency care providers across the capital are increasing, and the Trust is developing new innovative services to provide care closer to home for patients. This has required the Trust to evolve its operating model and a number of exciting opportunities have arisen through this restructure.
The Finance Business Partner is a key member of the finance department who will report into the Financial Controller and support them in leading the finance function.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating a high level of collaboration between the Finance Team and Trust business areas.
- Developing and maintaining in depth knowledge of Trust business areas, their financial performance and drivers, and make this information accessible to other members of the finance team.
- Acting as an expert advisor to Trust business area Directors, Managers and their teams, to assist them to work with and within financial systems, governance structures and constraints.
- Providing strategic advice on the development of the business areas to assist their managers to achieve lasting benefits for the organisation.

The Finance Business Partner will be educated to Masters degree level (or equivalent) and will be a Qualified CCAB Accountant. The ideal candidate for this role will have post-qualification experience in financial management, have effective leadership skills/management experience and have the ability develop effective working relationships with finance, clinical and non-finance colleagues at a senior level. This person must be a confident communicator and be able to present highly complex financial information and lead financial discussions at senior management and executive level meetings.
