My clients, an NHS organisation, near London have an IT Director role available on a fixed term basis, from 18-24 months, offering £90,000 – £100,000 per annum, depending on experience (NHS AFC 8d/ 9)

They require someone who has NHS experience, including previously fulfilling the following duties:

  • The post holder will be accountable on a day to day basis to the Chief Digital Information Officer (and deputising as appropriate)
  • The post holder will oversee the development and implementation of the IT Strategy (ensuring it is consistent with the wider NHSE IT Strategy) and have responsibility for the design and delivery of the IT Operating Plan.
  • They will be accountable for delivery of all IT/Digital programmes of work. This will include those being delivered by the organisation directly and those being delivered by third parties.
  • The post holder will ensure effective delivery of both the core IT service commissioned by the organisation and any specific programmes or projects it’s delivering or supporting the delivery of.
  • The post holder will have delegated budget management responsibility for the organisation’s IT Budget (including specific project budgets) and will have line management responsibility for CCG IT team staff.
  • To ensure that NHS data security and information governance standards including Data Protection Act responsibilities are robustly adhered to and that systems and data remain secure

Key Responsibilities:

  • To agree the service requirements and standards for IT; taking into account the requirements of the organisation’s IT Strategy and national strategies such as the Long Term Plan and GPIT Futures; and ensuring these are effectively delivered.
  • To actively participate in the Digital Programme Board with specific responsibility for ensuring that performance information regarding the delivery of related programmes of work and achievement of key milestones is reported
  • The post holder will undertake the role of Chair of the Technical Programme Board and in such be accountable for assessing and reporting progress against the delivery of the IT operational plan.
  • To ensure the successful delivery of projects and programmes of work reporting any deviation from plans to the CIO and developing effective remediation strategies.
  • To shape and steer activities to ensure adherence to appropriate technical standards and best practice frameworks and guidance.
  • The post holder will update information systems and use appropriate software to develop performance management reports and be responsible for it.
