A challenging new role for a Senior Policy Advisor has arisen at a government regulator for an experienced advisor to join the team on an interim basis.
Accountable to the Head of Policy, you will take on a key role in the Policy & Communications team, which seeks to ensure that the organisation has a fit for purpose regulatory policy framework in order to be able to hold the industry to account on behalf of the public. The role has arisen owing to the increased demands on the organisation and you will be asked to deliver across three core objectives: leading and managing the implementation of government policy to meet statutory obligations; providing robust policy advice and guidance; and providing interpretation on internal and external policy matters of strategic importance.
The suitable candidate will have significant experience in policy development, implementation and delivery – identifying key issues and risks from often unclear issues and working with subject matter experts to present clear policy advice. Excellent drafting skills are key. You should have a proven track record of working first hand with lawyers and government on the development of new legislation or the delivery of policy, plus knowledge of parliamentary and government processes. An understanding of energy policy and the nuclear regulatory framework would be desirable.
This role will suit a strong collaborator and communicator, able to build effective working relationships inside and outside the organisation, with the public, with government and international forums, and for the right candidate, this is likely to be a rewarding assignment.
