A County Council are currently looking to recruit an Interim Specialist Teacher for Inclusive Practice Schools – SEND
Role
- To work as part of a targeted teaching service for defined and vulnerable children and young people and for schools, that identifies and meets individual and organisational need and supports statutory duties for provision and achievement.
- To provide practical support, guidance and consultancy advice to schools to support the inclusion and achievement of children with behavioral difficulties.
- To maximise the efficient and effective use of resources to promote long-term self-reliance, and to enable inclusion within local services, schools and communities.
Main Duties
- To carry out duties with due regard to all relevant corporate policies and procedures
- To spend a specified time each week in direct support to schools, pupils and
- To deliver the requirements of a service level agreement
- To identify and assess the special educational needs of pupils
- To manage and/or support specialist team assistants
- To develop and deliver learning, language and social, emotional, health interventions through advice and the modelling of appropriate techniques and approaches
- To facilitate the development and / or use of appropriate curriculum materials and resources, including ICT
- To deliver appropriate In-Service training
- To support schools in the development of effective policy documents
- To develop strategic links with other professionals in order ensure that statutory requirements with regard to safeguarding children are met
- To promote active links with parents and carers
- To work with schools to ensure that a structured evaluation process of strategic intervention is implemented
- To implement an agreed scheme of quality assurance in line with the Quality Standards for teachers
- To keep accurate records in accordance with LA requirements
- To undertake any other duties as required by the Senior Area Specialist Teacher
Experience
- The nature of general and specific learning and language difficulties and their impact on social, emotional, cognitive and behavioral development
- An understanding of social, emotional and mental health difficulties and their impact on behavior and
- Detailed and contemporary knowledge of the statutory framework for education, particularly in relation to SEND
- The implementation and evaluation of supportive interventions for SEND
- Evidence of continued professional development
- The ability to communicate effectively with pupils, parents/carers and a range of professional colleagues
- The ability to use and evaluate a variety of observation and assessment tools
- The ability to make and implement difficult and challenging decisions in a consensual manner
- To be JCT literate
- To have a flexible and adaptable approach
- The ability to prioritise and plan to make effective and efficient use of time and resources
Desirable:
- Knowledge of national and local initiatives in relation to SEND
- Knowledge of leading and supporting team development
