Jewish Care is the largest health and social care charity for the Jewish Community in the UK, caring directly for over 10,000 people each week. It employs 1400 people throughout North London and the South East. It offers a wide range of services to people who are elderly, mentally ill, people with disabilities, holocaust survivors, and refugees. Jewish Care offers support and guidance to families, carers and the bereaved. Turnover is approximately £60 million with revenues coming from a combination of Local Authority funding, private fees and charitable donations
The Director of Finance and IT is a key role in the organisation and will play a key role in its success. With the organisation adapting to the changes and shifts in the way we work and how we position ourselves in the wake of Covid-19, Jewish Care is embarking upon the delivery of a new reset strategy and plans as we come through the challenges and changes imposed on us as a result of the pandemic. The organisation has had to make some key strategic decisions during 2020 to ensure the financial sustainability is maintained, however, these huge financial pressures are assumed to be with us for the next two to three years.
The Director of Finance and IT is a key member of the Directorate team and is responsible for developing and driving financial oversight and ensuring financial sustainability across Jewish Care. You will work closely with the CEO and members of the Directorate to provide hih level strategic financial advice to support and guide strategic decision making and the day-to-day operations of the organisation. The post holder will also lead the continued strategic development and provision of strong IT systems, support and digital security which has always been key to our effectiveness but even more so since the Coronavirus pandemic.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, and will need to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in a leadership role across finance and IT;
- Experience at Board level and ability to work in collaboration with Trustees and colleagues;
- Understanding and experience of strategic risk management, finance audit and internal controls.

You will have high levels of resilience and be able to establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders quickly. Charity or Health/Social Care experience would be an advantage.
