Head of Finance

An interesting opportunity has arisen at a government department for an interim Head of Finance to lead a team and deliver the end of year accounts.

As Head of Finance you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the finance department to provide the organisation with relevant and timely information to support decision making. This will also include responsibility for the delivery of financial services to parts of the organisation, and importantly, the production of the annual accounts. It will also extend to liaison with external and internal audit and other internal and external stakeholders.

You should be a qualified accountant who can demonstrate technical proficiency and competence in producing annual accounts including, preferably, Whole of Government Accounts.  Managing a team will be a key part of this role, so you should be able to show significant experience in this area, plus the ability to provide advice and guidance as required on technical matters. Experience of dealing with audit and risk committees will be very helpful. First rate communication skills and the ability to rapidly build effective working relationships with a wide range of people will be crucial.
