Closedown Accountant

Allen Lane are pleased to be working with a Local Authority to recruit a Corporate Financial Accountant to join their central finance department. With the team having recently been reorganised, there is an opportunity to assist in the successful production of the year end accounts. Due to the timeframes, it is essential that this candidate has previous experience working with local authorities.

As such, key objectives include;

• Production of the annual accounts in compliance with standards and leading on management of year end audit process
• Provide advice and assistance throughout the department on best practice in taxation matters
• Ensure monthly production of trial balance and balance sheets
• Monitor and review existing finance systems and processes to ensure that they are effective.

This position would suit a qualified or part-qualified Accountant with experience producing financial statements previously. The ability to explain complex financial terms to non-financial colleagues will be very important and managing stakeholder expectations will be key.
