As the Head of Digital Delivery, you will be responsible for delivery teams to deliver highly complex, technical and heavily audited Digital Solutions as part of a national initiative. You will have overall responsibility for the delivery of the digital solution, working collaboratively with suppliers and the Programme to deliver a Minimum Viable Product and associated Roadmap for incrementally building out to a full service.

This role requires working closely across teams including Digital, GDS, Policy, Communications and Commercial as well as with the supplier(s) in order to identify and prioritise requirements and ensure customers of the scheme are able to access a quality, professional and efficient service delivery.

You will own senior stakeholder relationships, effectively translating technical concepts, influencing and negotiating when required. You will be expected to work with flexibility, selecting and applying techniques from different delivery methodologies depending on the requirements of the delivery. You will use your experience of working in technology or a digital environment to get the best out of your team and drive continuous improvement. You will take a lead on managing relationships with commercial partners.

  • translating a single complex product roadmap into delivery, considering the people and skills required for delivery team and using delivery data to set milestones based on forecasts where possible
  • delivering in line with the capacity and availability of delivery teams leveraging frameworks to find the right suppliers and managing budgets to make informed decisions on resourcing and team profiles
  • using experience and delivery expertise to actively manage risks, issues and dependencies and acting as the final escalation point for any risks highlighted by junior colleagues
  • forming a strong partnership with the Product Manager, Technical Lead, Agile Delivery Manager and Programme teams to effectively engage with and influence relevant senior stakeholders
  • using feedback loops, data analysis and experiments to iteratively improve the product, service and ways of working across delivery team
  • demonstrating a strong understanding of which elements of a delivery methodology might work in context to deliver successfully

A Strong understand of GOV.UK proposition and GDS Products is a MUST.

Relevant skills

  • Strategy and Architecture
  • Certifications in two or more delivery methods (e.g. Scrum, Lean Kanban, SAFe, Prince 2)
  • Certifications in related disciplines (e.g. BA, Product Owner, Product Manager)
  • Previous experience of supplier management ideally with regards to delivery of technical solutions
