My client is a leading healthcare charity in the UK that supports thousands of people every year. They have gone through significant transformation over the past couple of years and continue to make vast improvements to efficiency including a restructure in the Finance function. They are currently seeking a talented Financial Accountant to join the team on a short term contract in a brand new role. There will be opportunity to apply for the role on a permanent basis longer term if they wish to.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the Financial Controller in ensuring the accuracy of the Trial Balance by preparing regular reports and analysis for review.  In particular, co-ordinate the monthly process to review Balance Sheet Reconciliations.

Maintain an accurate Fixed Asset Register through regular postings, based on review and liaison with Budget Holders.  Provide detailed monthly Fixed Assets reconciliations. Prepare capital expenditure reports for Financial Controller review.

Carry out any changes required to the Chart of Accounts and check regularly to ensure that it remains fit for purpose.

Ensure accurate reporting of the Balance Sheet and reserves for the Consolidated Monthly Accounts and other ad hoc reports.

Prepare timely and accurate VAT returns for Financial Controller review.  Prepare information for any other tax related queries.

Support the year end process to deliver a clean audit and accurate and timely Annual Accounts, including preparation of audit schedules and accounts for Financial Controller review.  Responsible for pension and subsidiary accounts.

Use systems expertise to ensure Oracle and other systems used in financial accounting are able to deliver accurate numbers and strong controls.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Financial Accountant with solid experience in the above duties and of Fixed Assets accounting and ideally use of Oracle system. They encourage candidates from the private sector eager to make the move into the charity sector to apply. You must be resilient, organised and have strong communication skills.
