Having made significant improvements during a journey of positive change, the last 18 months have seen RBWM appoint key Senior Finance Leaders within the Council, which has led to substantial advances to both their governance arrangements and financial resilience.
The recent restructure of the Finance Team is the latest stage in their development plan, and will build capacity and further resilience into the team. As part of this we are recruiting 4 roles, including the Chief Accountant. This position reports directly in to the Head of Finance (Deputy S151 Officer) and will be instrumental in developing, implementing and operating financial management policies and high-level processes. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, managing and developing the Corporate Finance Team to ensure the provision of high-quality technical support and advice to all of the Council’s services
- Taking ownership of the Council’s annual accounts closedown process, and capital programme
- Developing and maintaining the Council’s capital strategy and treasury management strategy
- Establishing influential working relationships at senior level to provide expert accounting advice and support
- Deputising for the Head of Finance in the absence of the Deputy Section 151 Officer to ensure that proper and effective financial administration is maintained throughout the Council
To be suitable for the role you need to be fully qualified with strong leadership skills and the ability to develop influential relationships. The successful candidate will have a strong technical skillset and the ability to apply a strategic mindset to continuous improvement.
This position is able to work flexibly between the office and homeworking subject to the needs of the business and preference of the individual. Any journeys to the office would be at the employees own expense.
