Ambitious about Autism has achieved and developed so much since it was founded in 1997. Our services continue to grow and develop. Our outstanding TreeHouse School continues to innovate to meet the needs of young people with autism. The Rise School, developed as part of our multi-academy trust, opened in 2014 co-located within a mainstream school and is thriving in its purpose-built building. Ambitious College is an autism specific registered day college serving young people with complex autism aged 16 to 25 years. It now has two permanent campuses co- located and developed in partnership with mainstream further education colleges. Through these services we educate and support around 300 autistic children and young people and we work with thousands more through our work on employability, participation and our national policy and practice influencing work.
We are all passionate and driven by our mission to make the ordinary possible for autistic children and young people and to improve their life chances. Our new strategy sets out our plans to have an even greater reach and impact. As part of this, we aim to further develop our existing and new education services, increase our work in employment and enterprise, and develop new services and activities to support autistic children and young people in their families, their communities and to ensure good health and wellbeing.
The Director of Finance and Planning will play a key role in our future success. Supporting the ambition of our new strategy will require the skillful development and delivery of our financial strategy and maintaining and further developing a high-quality finance, planning and governance support function. The Director of Finance and Planning also has responsibility of being the Chief Financial Officer for Ambitious About Autism School Trust. Acting as Company Secretary, you will lead the governance support function to ensure effective and compliant governance for the registered Charity and the Multi Academy Trust that make up Ambitious about Autism.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, and will need to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in a leadership role;
- Experience at Board level and ability to work in collaboration with Trustees and colleagues;
- Understanding and experience of strategic risk management, governance, and financial and operational planning
