When a child is diagnosed with cancer it threatens everything, for them and their family. We are working with the charity that helps children and young people and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. We are delighted to be supporting Young Lives Vs Cancer on the recruitment of a vital role in their Programme Management Office. The Technology Programme Manager will lead on a number of exciting system implementations.

Technology enables the charity to deliver so many aspects of their roles at Young Lives Vs Cancer. From processing income from their supporters, to delivering data to inform their campaigns and keeping the organisation compliant. The Technology Programme Manager will lead a range of technology projects that impact every member of Young Lives Vs Cancer to improve stability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing the overall programme plan for the end-to-end implementation of new systems (such as I&E CRM, finance system etc.)
  • Ensures all projects are ‘set up to succeed’ with the creation and continued ownership of all project documentation including project briefs, RACIs, RAID logs etc.
  • Builds robust success criteria and requirements based on evidence to ensure the project is meeting identified needs and gaps and designs robust controls, monitoring and evaluation tools to measure the success of the project to ensure they are performing as intended
  • Develops and implements the programme governance framework for each system implementation.
  • Manages the programme’s budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realized benefits as programme progresses.
  • Develops and articulates the vision for each rollout and both shares and empowers others to share this with stakeholders.
  • Provides strong leadership to the project team and subject matter experts leading the individual work streams of each programme.
  • Maintains engagement across the organisation by managing and delivering clear and impactful communications with all stakeholders including senior management and external parties and develops effective mechanisms for the engagement of all staff and volunteers.
  • Chairs project meetings ensuring all voices are heard and team members feel listened to.   Challenges project team members and contributes to the get the best outcome for the project.
  • Resolves issues and initiates appropriate corrective action.
  • Reports the progress of the programme at regular intervals to the project sponsor, Executive Team and Board of Trustees as required.
  • Works with the Technology Implementation Leads to ensure project timelines are built on accurate resource and time estimates.
  • Manages relationships with third party contributors including contract negotiations.
  • Initiates extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the programme are identified or issues arise.

Person Specification:

  • Formal qualification in project management such as Prince2, Agile DSDM, APMP.
  • Qualification or certification in process improvement methodology or management approaches such as Six Sigma, TQM, Kaizen and LEAN.
  • Experience of managing large scale system projects with good grounding in various technologies

This role can be completely remote with only occasional travel to either the London or Bristol office.
