The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing was established in 1904 and it is the dedication of generations of teachers and dance educationalists that ensures the continued worldwide reputation for dance excellence.
We are seeking a driven and collaborative Director of Finance and Resources to join us at an exciting time of change.
This position represents an fantastic opportunity to play a significant role in the future development of our 117-year-old charity. Over the past few years, we have undertaken an extensive modernisation programme, including the complete renovation of our office building in Shoreditch, the introduction of a new finance system, a new website, and significant improvements to our IT infrastructure.
The Society is loved and respected throughout the world but, like all charitable organisations, we face many challenges as we emerge from the global pandemic. The successful candidate will play a key role in our recovery and future growth – contributing to delivering our new 5-year strategic plan and the development of new income streams. Our ambition is to ensure business resilience for ourselves and our members so that, together, we can continue to nurture future generations of dancers and teachers.
This post sits within a Leadership Team of five Directors, each of whom is responsible for delivering growth, innovation and efficiency in their specialist area. The Director of Finance and Resources is responsible for Finance, IT, HR and Building Services, as well as the management of the Finance and Audit Committee and the relationships with auditors and bankers. We are looking for someone who is able to identify and implement strategic opportunities for growth in line with our mission and the aims of our Business Plan.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, and will need to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in a leadership role;
- Experience at Board level and ability to work in collaboration with Trustees and colleagues;
- Understanding and experience of strategic risk management, finance audit and internal controls.
