The finance department is currently going through a restructure to help develop and improve an already effective and passionate finance team. The restructure is built around development, growth and career progression to ensure we create a high performing finance team that can provide even more support to the council and benefit our residents. The next step of the restructure is to really embed the model that we’ve implemented, ensuring we are challenging the organisation to maximise the delivery of services and have an even bigger impact for our residents.
The Assistant Director Corporate Finance is a member of the council’s management team responsible for leading and developing the Corporate Finance teams which oversees close down, financial strategy and capital. Key responsibilities will include;
- Overseeing the council’s capital strategy, ensuring that the capital programme is efficiently funded
- Leading on the annual coordination and closure of the accounts in consultation with the senior finance leadership team
- Providing strategic oversight of the production of the medium term financial plan and determining required savings
- Driving positive cultural change, embodying and promoting the values and behaviours of the council and empowering staff to reach their full potential
To be suitable for the role you need to be a fully qualified accountant with proven experience of managing and developing staff. Previous experience of managing technical and financial accounting issues within the public sector or strategic management experience, including translating organisational drivers into strategic objectives is essential.
